Instructions for inclass students

Exams

All exams will be taken in lecture. Students may bring a single 8.5X11 sheet of paper, containing any notes you can fit onto it. Feel free to use both sides of the page.

How We Curve Grades

The "raw score" is the percent of correct answers on an individual assignment. To produce the "curved score" for that assignment, raw scores are adjusted so that the class median is 85 and the maximum is 100. Then the student gets the maximum of the raw and curved scores. Thus, the curve never reduces a student's score.

For each student, the curved scores of the various assignments are averaged to get the final score. We assign letter grades subjectively, based on these final scores.
