'PRODUCTIVE LABOR AND PROFITABILITY IN THE US ECONOMY 1964-2000'
Simon MOHUN (Queen Mary, University of London, UK)
'This paper is concerned with the question of the extent to which measurement
of the categories of productive and unproductive labour adds to our understanding
of the evolution of profitability in the US economy. Measurement issues are
discussed, new measurements are presented and discussed, and further evidence
is presented that the beginning of the 1980s marks a major change in the macroeconomic
history of the US.'
