IMPACTS OF THE NEW CONTRACTS OF EMPLOYMENT ON THE FRENCH LABOUR MARKET
Annabelle STELLA-CAUMEL (University Of Nice)
I intend to evaluate the impact of the new work contracts on French unemployment
and long-term unemployment. I have shown their structuring power on the French
  labour market.
First, I explain the meaning of "labour micro-market", and then I concentrate
on the ones most concerned by this phenomenon. I then tackle a more aggregate
view to replace their impact on the whole of the gainfully employed population.
My goal is to show that these institutions are not responsible for the strong
rise of the unemployment that France has experienced since the early seventies
but that they are nevertheless in the beginning of its structure.
With the help of a statistic descriptive method (Analysis of Principal Components
method), I discuss the data given by INSEE (French organization of national
statistics), plot outlines of the relevant groups for my study and show the
impact of the arrival of these new contracts of employment (fixed term, interim,
  part-time, contract of apprenticeship).
I have shown how these contracts have had an effect of substitution between
some micro-markets but also an effect of "insertion" for young workers and of
"reinsertion" for long-term unemployed workers on the labour market, sometimes
  by creating underemployment.
